Kabloom

How to play

Every day there's one new Kabloom, the same for everyone: seven questions on the day's theme, like countries on Mondays, films on Tuesdays and famous people on Wednesdays.

1. Answer seven questions

The volcano asks one question at a time, like “Name a film directed by James Cameron.” Start typing and the names it knows show up as you go. You get 25 seconds for each, and the clock only starts after two seconds, once you've read the question.

2. Never the same answer twice

Every answer can be used once. The first questions have plenty of right answers, and most people give the most famous one. The later questions have only a few right answers, and that famous one is often among them. Spend it early and you'll need another.

3. One wrong answer and… KABOOM

A wrong answer, or none before the time runs out, ends your day. There's one try a day, the same for everyone. Get all seven and you reach the top. Then share your result and come back tomorrow.

Typos and unknown answers

Misspell a name and the volcano asks “Did you mean…?” before anything counts. If you type something that isn't on its lists, it tells you, nothing is lost, and you can try another. We note what players typed so we can add the answers people reach for most.

A theme a day

Every daily is about one kind of thing, and every day is about equally hard. The themes take turns over two weeks: Mondays: Countries; Tuesdays: Films; Wednesdays: Famous people; Thursdays: Songs or albums; Fridays: Cities or landmarks; Saturdays: Video games or tv shows; Sundays: Athletes or sports.

What counts as an answer?

Any right answer on the volcano's lists, not just the famous ones: tens of thousands of the world's best-known people (living or not), films, TV shows, video games, songs and albums, bands, books, brands, cities, landmarks and sports, plus every country (the 193 United Nations member states and Vatican City, so not Kosovo, Taiwan or England).

More climbs

Today's daily is always free. With Kabloom Unlimited you can keep climbing: endless climbs, a new one every time, and every past daily in the archive.

Stuck on yesterday's?

Every past daily is explained question by question once it's over everywhere in the world: the right answers, and where the famous one was already spent.
